Lie Down With Media Whores…

TVNewser has learned that a small area of the Fox News Channel newsroom has evidence of insects believed to be bed bugs. What is not known is how the insects got into the basement-level newsroom of the News Corp. headquarters. Most likely, an employee or guest unknowingly transported the poppy seed-sized bugs on their clothing, which then made their way into the fabric or carpeting.

Somehow I see this on Countdown, I guess a plague of locusts is more of a southern thing…

WASHINGTON — The Senate on Friday blocked a Democratic proposal to pay for the Iraq war but require that troops start coming home.

The 53-45 vote was seven votes short of the 60 needed to advance. It came minutes after the Senate rejected a Republican proposal to pay for the Iraq war without strings attached.

The Republican measure failed 45-53, 15 short of the number of votes needed to go forward.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the only way to get troops the money was to approve the restrictions outlined by Democrats.

“Our troops continue to fight and die valiantly. And our Treasury continues to be depleted rapidly, for a peace that we seem far more interested in achieving than Iraq’s own political leaders,” said Reid, D-Nev.

“The days of a free lunch are over,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

What next? Rush Limbaugh was found dead in Fort Marcy Park, a federal park in Virginia. He was found with a gun in his hand and gunshot residue on that hand…

A report produced by the Republican staff of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee concludes that while State Department Inspector General Howard J. Krongard has “an extraordinarily abusive management style,” charges that Krongard thwarted investigations into Iraq and was motivated by political bias cannot be supported by the evidence collected.

The 117-page report by the minority staff, prepared for a hearing today into Krongard’s leadership of the IG’s office, is an unusually tough broadside against the tactics of Committee Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.). The report contends that Waxman jumped the gun by accusing Krongard in a Sept. 18 letter of a long list of failings before, Republicans charged, the committee had conducted a thorough investigation.

“Several witnesses observed that the IG had a poor regard for government workers,” the report says, noting that one said he went through several secretaries. One secretary simply did not show up for work and told others that she would not return to the front office, a witness testified.

“It was common knowledge not to speak in the staff meetings because he was heavy-handed,” Patti Boyd, a former deputy assistant inspector general, told the committee staff. “People were actually afraid to say anything. So they actually said nothing.” She added: “It was my observation that he disliked everyone.”

Today’s hearing should be hilarious, not to mention Rachel’s new hairstyle…
